Corporate Philosophy

We at Synergistic Systems, Inc. (Syninc) believe manufacturers should concentrate on running their businesses, not worry about their software. With that in mind, we are dedicated to providing our customers with affordable, intuitively easy to use and stable integrated manufacturing software that gives management the ability to affectively run their business the way they want to.

History

In 1979 - Michael Marley, the founder of Synergistic Systems, Inc, wrote his first manufacturing software package for a time-share company, which in turn rented time to their customers to access the software. Some of those customers, willingly, paid in excess of $10,000/month to use the software. When micro-computers began to proliferate in the early 1980s, Mr. Marley began to recognize that, if he could create a similar solution for micro-computers, smaller manufacturers would also want to use the software.

After a few tries in 1982 Synergistic Systems, Inc. was born, the first version of Synergistic Integrated Manufacturing Systems (SIMS) was completed and sold to Cognitronics Corporation running a Unix operating system. Word began to spread and soon companies such as Nestle Trading, Technicon (at the time a division of Revelon), ITT Canada, Raytheon and others were all using SIMS. To accommodate these large companies, many more sophisticated tools, and utilities were added to the SIMS product. That proved to be a double edged sword.

These large customers were willing to pay top dollar for customizations. The result was, Synergistic Systems, Inc lost its focus. It became a company developing custom solutions for large manufacturers. In 1998 Mr. Marley decided the company needed to return to its original focus, the development of manufacturing software for small to medium size businesses. However, it was also very clear small to medium size companies have very different concerns than large manufacturers. The focus had to be more than simply creating powerful manufacturing software. The software had to be easy to use, easy to install and did not require IT staff to keep it running. The trick was finding stable software tools that would allow Synergistic Systems, Inc to create software that met those concerns. After looking at a variety of tools, we selected the tools developed by Micro Focus, located in Newbury, Berkshire UK. Micro Focus had (has) a set of technologies that allow the development of enterprise-grade, modern, scalable software on the most used and proven data storage technology in the world. Synergistic Systems, Inc used Micro Focus to create the advanced Integrated Manufacturing Software (IMS) we call ManuFACT™.
